So Apple has a press conference scheduled for tomorrow, what are they planning on doing? Will Jobs come out and tell everyone they don't know how to use the iPhone? Will they say we are so sorry, we were stunned to discover the antenna design sucks? Free bumper covers for everyone?
I have to say it's smart for Apple to react swiftly, the question is what will the actual reaction be? I don't see it being a recall, but you never know, and they have tons of cash to cover the costs.

ReplyDeleteI feel like Apple’s window to react swiftly has almost closed already. Apparently they already knew about the issue before launch. Then, they blamed the formula for misrepresenting the signal strength. Now U.S. Senators are getting in on the act (side note: does the Senator really have time for this? War, trade deficit, unemployment, debt to North Korea anyone?).
ReplyDeleteWhen I buy an Apple product, I’m buying more than UI, product design and innovation. I expect a luxury experience. Apple told me I could expect that. If Apple blows smoke up my ass on Friday, I will be pissed! Then I’ll buy the iPhone 4 only after my current AT&T contract expires. Since it’s an event on Friday, we know it’s probably bad news. But is it bad news for shareholders, or bad news for consumers? I can’t wait to find out.
No recall according to WSJ.
ReplyDeleteTo buy or not to buy
ReplyDeleteSo the answer is a free case, but only through September? What will they do after September? Are you on your own, is the idea that you have fair notice of the reception problems? I've never owned a phone that absolutely needed to have a case on it before, yet my 3GS pretty much needs one to save the face from cracking or getting scratched. I guess the new one will need one to make/receive calls. Yeah, I think I'm going to pass on the new iPhone and sit tight for awhile while I assess my options.

ReplyDeleteWill the case even get to you in time for you to return the phone in case you are still unhappy? http://www.networkworld.com/news/2010/072510-apple-iphone-4-bumper-giveaway.html
